The Board of Directors of GROW Associates is excited to announce the hiring of Bill Wasserman as Executive Director, effective May 11. Bill’s hiring marks the conclusion of an extensive national search for GROW’s next leader. That search included the involvement of the Board, the staff, and the individuals served by GROW Associates. All involved in making this decision were impressed by both Bill’s exhaustive experience in providing quality services for people with developmental disabilities and his passion for GROW’s mission.
Bill has over 25 years experience working in the intellectual/developmental disabilities field. He has held several executive level positions in organizations serving people with developmental disabilities. His experience ranges from Vocational, Day Habilitation, Social Enterprises, Clinical, Residential, Early Intervention, Case Management as well as Forensic services. He has worked successfully with a number of foundations and philanthropic programs. Over the course of his career he has had the opportunity to direct pilot projects including converting over a 400 person sheltered workshop into supported employment and other community based services (this was only the third such project, and the largest, in the country). He also directed a similar project converting a large Day Treatment program into several person centered community models. Bill served as a consultant to Cornell University’s Employment and Disability Institute (among a host of other organizations). Bill attended Marist College as a McCann Fellow and received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Human Service Administration. Beyond his professional experience Bill grew up with two brothers with developmental disabilities.
On behalf of the Board, the staff, and the individuals served by GROW Associates, we look forward to Bill Wasserman’s leadership for many years to come.
